The Threads delighted to be included on the ‘Millions Like Us’ - The Story Of The Mod Revival 1977-1989 4-CD Box-set

We (The Threads) are delighted to be included within this excellent Cherry Red Records collection of the Mod Revival (and 80s) era and to be alongside so many of the bands that we admired.

‘Millions Like Us’ is the first-ever box set to properly document the Mod Revival scene of the late Seventies and Eighties.

Across 100 tracks by all the key bands, the story of the Mod Revival is told, from its roots in Punk/New Wave through to its commercial heyday in 1979 with bands like Secret Affair, The Chords, The Purple Hearts and The Lambrettas and its resurrection in 1985 with The Untouchables, The Prisoners, Makin’ Time, The Moment and The Threads.

Hideaway Club 16th Anniversary Night in Manchester on 21st February 2015

The Hideaway Club's 16th Anniversary Night will take place on 21st February at The Old Nags Head, 19 Jacksons Row, Manchester M2 5WD.

What originally started simply as a group of friends going away for the Easter weekend has now materialised in something more organised. Thanks to our good friend expat Cliffo we now have two beautiful venues, one for the Friday night and Saturday afternoon and another one for the Saturday night, the venues are walking distance to each other and in the proximity of the seafront and with plenty of hotels available.

Please note than on the Saturday night a Mod dress code will apply, this doesn’t necessarily mean suit and tie, a pair of trousers and shirt will be enough (girls have got plenty of options ), but please no jeans, shorts, trainers, etc..

There is no dress restriction for Friday night and Saturday afternoon.

All the ingredients for a full on Mod fun weekender are there, now all we need is your support to make it happen. Our advice is obviously to book quick, before it gets too full.

“I’ve Been Away…….”

In the words of the legendary Purple Hearts, “You know it’s true, I’ve been away…”, and I pretty much have since last summer due to work commitments.

However, I am now back to my normal interim contract profile, so will be able to post the occasional blog and review of anything that looks interesting.

Thank You For Your Support

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your fantastic support of The Modernist Society Blog over the last two years.

As many of you will have noted, the regular news stories, reviews and events flyers came to an abrupt halt at the end of May. This is because I have taken on a new job role from the beginning of June whereby I am now leading the engineering company that I have worked at for the last 3 ½ years. With responsibility for over 100 employees (and therefore the well-being for over 100 families personal economies), it now requires my 24/7 attention and dedication. Even my part-time PhD and academic research has now had to go ‘on hold’ indefinitely.

On a positive note, this doesn’t affect the clothes I wear, the music I listen to or (some of) the books I read.

Furthermore, I am very proud that The Threads have been included within the forthcoming Cherry Red box-set, ‘Millions Like Us – The Story Of The Mod Revival 1977-1989’, which will include ‘Step Back’ from the 1986 Phase III EP (Unicorn).

Many thanks for your support, and I’ll see you out and about at the usual gigs and events.
