'Under The Clock' and 'Doing Nothing' Two Tone themed novels by Shelley Hinchcliffe Reece available now!

Under The Clock
A nostalgic trip back into 1981, following 16-year-old Shell Rogers as she leaves school with nothing but her friends, fashion, and love for the Two-Tone movement. Desperate to leave town, she makes a pact with her best mates to meet again Under the Clock when they're all aged 50. Filled with Two-Tone music, sex, drugs, and language that your mother would have disapproved of, it's a heartwarming story of friendships that stand the test of time.

Doing Nothing
Two months after meeting her friends and first love Under the Clock for their teenage pact, how does life move on for Shell Rogers? Capturing a snippet of how deep set feelings from the past can take hold of your heart and soul, and send your life into chaos.Shell, Marty, and the gang recall the memories that created their path as we head back to 1981 and life hanging out together, doing nothing.A reminiscent sequel that will stir many memories from the past. Filled with a love for Two-Tone music, fashion, plenty of sex, drugs and petty crime, probably a little too much strong language and a few raised eyebrows along the way.

'A Celebration of The Style Council' postponed until 28/29 November. A Sky Arts documentary and new TSC compilation album scheduled for Autumn.

Stuart Deabill says, "Been a lot of enquiries about
That Spiritual Feeling - A Celebration of The Style Council
and if it’s going ahead. As far as we’re concerned, it’s still on, there’s enough room to distance if we need to. Only another spike would make it difficult to go ahead.
We was hoping to put more tickets on sale for each day but that will be something to look at nearer the time.
I’m also looking at a FB Live feed for those that can’t make it or missed out on tickets.
As you probably know, alongside our book
Soul Deep
, there’s a TSC doc coming on Sky Arts and there’s also a new compilation titled ‘Long Hot Summers’ due out in the autumn."

Colouring The Past - 'Shadows and Reflections' by The Action

THE ACTION - SHADOWS & REFLECTIONS
The video here is the promo for THE ACTION's fifth single SHADOWS & REFLECTIONS.
I've upscaled & colourised the original black & white film.
(Note: The audio plays slightly fast in the page to avoid a block)
One of the great "lost" bands of mid-'60s England, THE ACTION filled mod clubs with happy patrons and managed to score George Martin as a benefactor but only released a handful of singles during their brief existence. Martin produced the band’s five singles issued on Parlophone between 1965 and 1967 as well as tracks intended for a never-released album.
The band's early years were spent as Motown-loving mods guided by Reg King's insistent vocals, the group's snappy backing vocals, and Martin's clean production style.
The bandmembers were able to nail Motown covers (like "I'll Keep Holding On" and "Since I Lost My Baby") thanks to the tautness of the playing and their vocal prowess.
The Action didn't write many originals at the time, though the horn-filled rocker "Twentyfourth Hour" shows they had the skills.
The band only released six singles in their lifetime – or seven, if you count a pre-Action single by The Boys – but their legend has grown exponentially since their demise in 1968.

Hello, and a warm welcome to everyone who has joined COLOURING THE PAST.
The page is my attempt to add a little colour to the cheeks of the past. It's not intended to offer anything 'better' than the original black & white footage; just a different take.
Running the page is a one-man operation. I write and research the articles, and edit the videos which involves several hours of work - upscaling, colourising and tweaking in various software.
This takes about half a day of unpaid work. If you could see fit to make a small donation then I would be genuinely grateful.
Thank you and best wishes, Paul 🙂

Simon is an award-winning graphic designer with a career spanning  four decades in the music industry. He is most noted for his work with Paul Weller, George Michael and Oasis having worked with these artists for many years and designed some of  their most iconic record sleeves. During this time Simon took a wealth  of behind the scenes photographs, most of which are largely unseen.

It's a journey that began at Stiff Records back in 1980, where with  no formal training Simon ended up in their art department, before moving  on to work for Neville Brody up at The Face magazine offices. Since that time Simon has worked alongside many of the great artists and photographers, from Peter Blake to David Bailey.

Simon's portfolio also takes in design work for The Who, Madness, Steve Winwood, Nick Heyward, David Bowie, Frank Sinatra, the Blue Note label and many more.

In 2007 Simon produced the feature film Sleuth, starring Michael Caine & Jude Law and in 2016 he produced the Oasis feature length documentary Supersonic.  Most recently Simon created and produced the punchy comedy/drama series All You Need Is Me.
