New issue of Record Collector says We Are The Mods

Be the ace face rather than just another number and pick up the new Record Collector Magazine, in shops Thursday and already with subscribers.

Yep, this month we're casting our gaze upon all things Mod. Our in-depth feature sees Modcast with Eddie Piller & Friends pick out 51 tunes that have inspired Mod in all its incarnations, from its jazz roots onwards. We talk to top Mods about what it meant to them and take you through the way that successive generations have reinvented it. It's a must read for anybody who can't resist Green Onions or has ever eyed up a Les Fleur De Lys single longingly.

As always, there's loads more - Kris Needs remembers what may have been the last interview that Bob Marley gave, and we consider where ELVIS PRESLEY's career might have gone if he was still with us.

Dig a little deeper and you'll find features on the more arcane corners of record collecting - a look at how to collect 78s; punk compilations; the often strange world of TV theme tune covers and Go-Go, the offshoot of that made Washington dance in the 70s and 80s.

Our columnists are in fine fettle: Bob Stanley fills in the gaps in Tony Christie's career; Ian McCann looks at some smooth grooves; Luke Haines speaks out in defence of The Doors; and David Quantick comes clean on his Pink Floyd obsession and ponders what drives people to collect the weirder ends of artist's catalogues. Among all the regulars we've got Q&A's with Hue And Cry & Belinda Carlisle and talk to Awesome Tapes From Africa about what makes the label tick.

We review reissues from Brian Eno, 10cc and Super Furry Animals, SFA, as well as new albums by Sparks, The National and The War On Drugs. Book reviews feature everyone from Iron Maiden to The Go-Betweens, and we give you our verdict on the film of Paul Simon's Hyde Park gig in DVDs.

So dust off yer scooter and get down to the shops for your copy cause these are gonna fly off the shelves faster than a Roadrunner on Purple Hearts
