THE DIRECTIONS - The Complete Studio Recordings DOUBLE LP
Detour Records are
extremely proud to present to you one of the most long awaited and highly
anticipated releases to ever grace the label.
Formed in late 1978
by the Burke brothers along with friends Martin Wilson and Steve Martinez, The
Directions have gone down in Mod folklore, and now we present to you their
entire Studio recorded output on vinyl for the VERY FIRST time!!! This MUST
have release comes housed in a beautiful GATEFOLD sleeve and features 25 tracks
in total. YES, THREE more than the CD version as the band found three more
alternate versions!
The band hailed from
the ‘Goldhawk Road’ area in Shepherd’s Bush, London, an area synonymous with
60’s Mod legends The Who. Taking their name from one of their early songs, the
band hit the London gig circuit, starting at The Trafalgar and moving on to the
famous Greyhound in Fulham.
In 1979 the band
released their one and only single, the infamous ‘Three Bands Tonite’ on their
managers ‘Tortch’ label. 2000 copies of this single were pressed, but 800 got
destroyed in a flood in their managers office, making this one of the most
collectable releases of the Mod Revival era, they also had two tracks featured
on the excellent Eddie Piller's ‘Beat Generation & The Angry Young Men’
compilation album.
The band called it a
day in the early 80’s, with them evolving into ‘Big Sound Authority’ minus John
the Vocalist, but their name has lived on in the hearts and minds of Mods
everywhere, and now we give you everything you’ve ever dreamed of.... 25
tracks, featuring the great single tracks, the compilation appearances and 21
TOTALLY unreleased studio tracks on vinyl, this is a truly ESSENTIAL release,
get it now!
