Quadrophenia meets Shakespeare at ‘The Upstairs at the Gatehouse’ from 6th February to 2nd March

Here’s something a bit different for anyone who fancies some theatrical action in North London: -

Hiraeth Artistic Productions presents ‘Romeo & Juliet’, by William Shakespeare, at ‘The Upstairs at the Gatehouse’, a fringe venue in Highgate, north London, from 6 Feb to 2 March 2013.

Directed by Zoe Ford, cast includes Rosalind Blessed, Benjamin Ireland, Maya Thomas.

“Quadrophenia meets Shakespeare. Set in the fraught days following the violent confrontation between Mods and Rocker crowds on the shores of Brighton in 1964, tensions between the children of two powerful families, the Montagues and the Capulets, are running high. In the midst of the conflict, Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet's eyes meet for the first time; it is a glance that will not only radically change the course of their lives, but alter the face of Brighton forever.”

'Two households, both alike in dignity…
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.’

'Quadrophenia' meets Shakespeare in Hiraeth Artistic Productions visceral, vibrant and sexually charged adaptation of Romeo and Juliet.

From the company that created the critically acclaimed, box office successes Macbeth, A Life in the Theatre and Titus Andronicus, Shakespeare's classic tale of forbidden love is transported into the cultural din of 1960's Brighton.

Bathed in 60's music, politics and culture, Romeo and Juliet is a comedically sumptuous and emotionally tumultuous exploration of the human heart and the extremes we will go to in the name of hate and love!
