Elmore magazine says, "Depending
on who you’ve talked to, either the Faces or the Small Faces will be getting
back together this year. Rod Stewart and Ian McLagan have had their say, and
now drummer Kenney Jones has weighed in via an interview with Billboard.
According to Kenney, reunions for both bands are in the works.
Jones
said that he, Stewart and guitarist Ron Wood are in negotiations for the
projected 2015 tour. He also chalked up McLagan’s less-than-enthusiastic
reaction to the initial announcement to a misunderstanding. “Mac didn’t realize
we were talking because it was in the early stages,” Jones said. “But he understands
now.”
Jones is
eager to get a Faces reunion off the ground after many failed attempts to get
Stewart back into the fold. Rod the Mod’s busy solo career kept him out of the
2010 Faces reunion (Simply Red singer Mick Hucknall took his place) and illness
kept him away from the Faces’ induction in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
As for
the Small Faces, Jones said that he agreed with McLagan that the band’s 50th
anniversary has to be commemorated in some way in 2015. While discussion of a
tour hasn’t come up yet, Jones has been working on an animated film based on
the band’s 1968 concept album Ogden’s Nut Gone Flake."
