Many thanks
to Colm Croughan for very kindly gifting me a copy of The Urges new 7” single
release for Record Store Day this year.
This
release contains two fantastic pieces of mid/late sixties influenced work, both
James Walters originals, and both very, very good.
‘Passing
Us By’ has a very Doors feel which is very welcome to these ears and builds and
builds to a tremendous climax – a worthy A-side.
‘Corners
Of Her Mind’ is a great pacey stomper – driving beat and great guitar work.
There’s real passion in the delivery – almost like their lives depended upon
it. Although labelled as the B-side, to my mind this is very much a double
A-side.
What we
need now lads is for you to follow this up with a full length album.
