Album Review: Andre M - Cheriton Drive

The cover says, "Funk Filled Hammond R&B" - and it's not wrong. This is a splendid Hammond fuelled 12-song stomper of an album in the vein of The James Taylor Quartet's 'Mission Impossible' and 'Money Spyder' albums, and definitely right up my street.

There's echoes of The Style Council on the title track itself, certainly plenty of Booker T & The MGs, and even a Ska flavour to 'Binky's Dash'.

Favourites for me, if I had to pick some out of this very strong album, are 'Cheeky Face', 'Sneaky Thief', 'Holly's Hullabaloo' and 'Hangdog Nights'.

This band have been a well kept secret, but not any longer and I would love to see them 'live' - buy this album now, every home should have one.
