Mark and
Sarah Clibery, nee Awere, were wed at St Paul’s Church, Llanover Road,
Blaenavon, last month.
Along
with friends and family, they were joined by a host of enthusiasts from the
Cwmbran All Stars scooter club, where Mr Clibery has been a member since 1984.
Now 50,
the long-time mod, who recently rejoined the scooter club after a short
absence, was keen to commemorate the occasion with classic Lambrettas and
Vespas – as was his bride, who has become a keen modette herself.
“Mark
has been a mod for around 35 years,” said Mrs Clibery.
“It was
a big part of his life growing up, and still is.
“But it
has also developed into an interest we both share.
“We have
become regular visitors to a lot of the British Scooter Rallies Association
national events which take place all over the country.”
The pair
met two-and-a-half years ago, and after a short friendship Mr Clibery asked for
his wife’s hand on Christmas Eve 2011.
Mrs
Clibery said the presence of the scooters had certainly added to the occasion.
“We just
wanted the day to be as special as possible,” she added.
“Scooters
are Mark’s pride and joy so they had to be part of it.
“They
looked so brilliant all lined up as I arrived at the church.
“There
were plenty of fishtail parkas and two-tone suits on display too.
“It just
topped off the best day of our lives.
“Even
Mark was lost for words.
“The
fact our friends would rally around and do that for us was very moving.
“But the
whole day was everything I had hoped for, and more.
