‘Those Old Records’ Vinyl Record Shop, Rugeley, Staffordshire

‘Those Old Records’ is a vinyl only record shop located in Rugeley and is absolutely top notch. They have an extensive range of vinyl that falls into the Mod/ Freakbeat / Soul categories and get new stock in all of the time.

Last week I picked up original pressings of the Small Faces ‘I Got Mine’, a couple of John’s Children singles, a David Bowie Deram single and one of Chris Farlowe’s Immediate singles, ‘Handbags and Gladrags’, as well as the more recently released 10” mini-album by Steve Marriott & The Moments (via John Hellier’s label).

It’s proper old school – propriater Chris McGranaghan is on hand to discuss whatever you’re looking for with a turntable at hand ready to play anything of interest. And Chris is so enthusiastic about vinyl going to the right people that on last year’s Record Store day, he took back a record and refused to complete the sale to a customer who uttered “I wonder how much I can get on ebay for this later on?” – pure class (so don’t bother going in on Record Store Day unless you are a known customer).

Chris also has his own record label that was predominantly set-up to release recordings by the Peter Parker's Rock N Roll Club – a band who play Rickenbackers and have a real feel of The Rolling Stones about them (their 10” album is still available via mail order or a visit to the shop).

Care is taken to ensure that the classifications of vinyl and sleeve are accurate. Classifications are based on the standards set by Record Collector UK. Shipping is the next working day after payment. All non MINT records are professionally cleaned on an Okki Nokki machine and played on high end equipment.

Those Old Records (Record Label). This new label was created in 2012 primarily to release the Peter Parker's Rock N Roll Club album "Straight To Vinyl". Released in January 2013 on red vinyl. More releases planned.”
