Band warm up for slot supporting The Who at Hyde Park with gig in Lichfield

One of the bands set to support The Who at Hyde Park will warm up with an intimate gig in Lichfield.

The Standard Lamps will perform in front of thousands in London on June 26, but local music fans will get the chance to hear them perform at The George IV on April 18.

The Kent-based band have already supported The Who on four dates of their UK arena tour in 2014, but frontman Mike Wilton said they were particularly excited about the Hyde Park date.

“It’s such an honour to be chosen by The Who to appear on this bill amongst more of our heroes and influences,” he said. “We can’t wait.”

The Lichfield gig will seem them supporting former Bluetones frontman Mark Morriss.
