“The Yardbirds Announce New Line-up and 2015 Tour” reports Jeff Giles of Ultimate Classic Rock

The Yardbirds will head back on the road this spring with a new lineup that includes some familiar faces.

As fans will recall, the most recent version of the band was dissolved late last year, with founding drummer Jim McCarty issuing assurances that the group would eventually carry on in some form. “The Yardbirds as a band has continued to evolve through the years with great musicians playing all around the world,” wrote McCarty at the time. “I will be working on solo ventures and other Yardbirds projects in 2015.”

As it turns out, the newest Yardbirds have a little in common with the oldest — aside from McCarty, who’s been with the band all along, the 2015 line-up also includes guitarist Top Topham, who was one of the co-founders before being forced to quit by his parents and clearing the way for Eric Clapton. They’re joined by bassist Kenny Aaronson, singer and harmonica player Myke Scavone and lead guitarist and singer John Idan, who will be familiar to Yardbirds fans from his appearance on the band’s 2003 album ‘Birdland.’

The group’s next run of dates sends them to the American Northeast in early April. Check out the complete list of shows below.
