FANS of
The Jam can ask questions of the band's former bassist when he performs at the
Kings Hall in Herne Bay.
Bruce
Foxton will take to the stage with Russell Hastings as From The Jam for an
acoustic gig on May 3.
The pair
will perform a selection of songs from The Jam’s extensive back catalogue and
songs from Bruce’s new album Back In The Room, and will hand over the
microphone to the audience for a question and answer session.
Bruce
said the gig was a rare opportunity to hear The Jam's songs stripped down to
the melodies.
He said:
"We played some acoustic shows earlier this year and it was a revelation
how well the songs work acoustically.
"It’s
a testament to a good song that they have stood the test of time and don’t need
a full band and big production in order to work so well."
The gig
will include classic such as Down In The Tube Station At Midnight, Going
Underground, Town Called Malice and The Modern World as well as favourites
including Strange Town, When You’re Young and Start. Bruce and Russell will
also perform songs from Back In The Room which was released in 2012 to great
acclaim.
Russell added: "The reaction to the acoustic shows has been great, people really get into the songs and the Q&A brings the audience and us together for the evening which is so special."
The Jam
were one of the biggest-selling bands in British history, and in 2000 Q magazine
placed All Mod Cons at Number 50 in its list of the 100 Greatest British Albums
Ever.
From The
Jam toured the UK in 2007, finishing with a concert at Brighton Centre on 21
December 2007 to mark the 25th anniversary of The Jam's final show. They have
also toured the United States and Canada, selling out in Los Angeles, San
Francisco, Vancouver, Toronto, Chicago and New York. In March 2008, they toured
Australia and New Zealand.
The
Herne Bay gig is on Saturday, May 3 and tickets cost £25. For more information
