March Of The Mods aims to raise cash for Teenage Cancer Trust reports Get Reading

The sharp music and even sharper suits of the Mods are coming to town to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT).

The 14-hour March Of The Mods fundraising drive is being held at The Facebar in Ambrose Place on Saturday, March 22. Starting at noon and running until 2am, a total of 10 bands and 10 DJs will be taking to the stage to bring the Mod scene to town.

Included in the DJ line-up are Jonny Owen, star of the forthcoming film ‘Svengali’, local author Paul ‘Smiler’ Anderson and the Bare Groove DJs Phil and Andrew.

The bands include Missing Andy, The Modfathers and The Skafaces. The event will also feature a band-clash between Oasiis and Blurd.

Now in its second year, March Of The Mods will see 29 Mod scene events held across the UK with more than 200 bands and DJs taking part to raise money for TCT.

Kate Ross-Kellam, from organisers Afterglow Promotions, said: “March Of The Mods is a grassroots co-operative of promoters, bands, DJs and people who are connected by their love of the ‘broad church’ that is Mod culture.

They organise and promote their local events individually with a collective aim to raise as much as possible for TCT.

“The inaugural fundraiser last year raised £50,000 and the aim is to double that amount this year.”

Advance tickets cost £11 from www.wegottickets.com/event/247730  and for more information, visit www.marchofthemods.com
